A Fish Out of Water

Day 3: What are you feeling?

“A picture is a work of art, not because it is ‘modern,’ nor because it is ‘ancient,’ but because it is a sincere expression of human feeling.” ~ John F. Carlson, Swedish-born American Impressionist painter

Prompt: If what you’re thinking and feeling right now was created as your art, what would it look like (read like, etc)?

I’ve just spent 10 days with my daughter, son-in-law and grandson in a metropolitan area in a different state. I always feel like a fish out of water when I arrive, coming from my home in a small rural area in West Michigan.

I feel like that fish again as I prepare to go home, not only sad to leave my family but also to return to a place without a bookstore, ethnic restaurants … or much diversity in general.

This was on my mind as I created this piece for today’s #iArtDaily challenge.

P.S. This one, too.
