‘You’ve Lived It, Now Write It’ (Part 1)

Day 28

I’ve been preparing for a workshop I’m leading Friday at our local seniors center. It’s about writing down our stories to leave a legacy for family, friends, and even the community. As my friend Debbie says, “I can hardly wait to see what I do with it!”

Putting together this session is something I’ve been contemplating for several years, and it combines a passion for writing with a passion and commitment for working with people at the margins. In our youth-focused culture, that group certainly includes older adults.

I have plenty of material (I think. I hope.), plus I want it to be more about actual writing and discussion than me talking. I feel good about it, and I think I now have the bones of a real curriculum for this one, and a pathway to others.

I’m not even nervous.
